Am I a social media slave or student?

Been pondering on this for sometime

Years earlier I signed up in a social media virtual space because everyone else where busy doing it

Initially the virtual space baffled me as it was my first experience in visiting the virtual site to socialize

Most of the virtual users appeared to be busy connecting with each other through invites, leads, references and posts

Offline conversations of those days invariably circled to respective individuals exposure and experience with the social media platforms

Highlight of the talks was on the number of online connections, interactions with them and the responses to their online posts

I too was one among the crowd who began to crowd these online social media's by following the standard user pattern to remain as an active user

While sharing my thoughts in my posts or liking and commenting on others posts, the basic desire was to build more connections and followers

Over the years, multiple other online social media platforms and mobile apps emerged to offer the virtual users an array of concepts and earning opportunities

Tech growth turned these social media sites and apps much user friendly to optimise on the features available in these platforms

My personal time on social media platforms began with 20 minutes of online presence and gradually expanded to keep me engaged for 8 hours, these days

The first 'like' for my post looped me in for good with these online social media platforms, since the happiness that I derived from this virtual gesture is beyond words to explain or express

Many of the online users were adapting to the method of 'random likes' of others posts without reading or understanding the contents to build more connections and followers for them

It took me months to realise this and all along I was stupid enough to think that my thoughts through my posts had reached so much minds and impressed them to appreciate my writing

At one stage, I decided, enough is enough and logged out of these sites and uninstalled the apps

Well it wasn't that easy to curb the urge to reinstall these mobile apps, login and resume my online socializing journey

What actually pushed me back into these sites was the online earning opportunities as a writer

I promptly reinstalled all the online social media apps in my mobile phone and resumed my writings/videos to share as a post, story, reel and shorts

Though there are dozens of these online media platforms, I am active only in 1/2 a dozen of them because of my restricted knowledge, skill and interest

I am certainly learning by visiting others shares on these media but are they helping me to earn or gain more connections?

So far my earnings through these online social media are negligible but the gain on connections and followers is reasonable

Posts going viral is an ever present 'carrot on the stick' kind of lure of mind which ensures that users like me are ever present in these social media's with salvia dripping from the tongue

There's no dearth of Gnan in these media's and so are offers and opportunities but the process of filtering the genuine from the maze of posts is a challenge by itself

AI interface has much improved user experience in these virtual sites and that's another reason for staying connected in these platforms

I often assume that my next post will open the door of opportunity to earn and end up thanking the readers and followers who appreciated my writing

There were days when I felt low for lack of likes or comments to my posts which later I learned to overcome by realising that all my thoughts may not be worth the read

Even till date, I look forward to the likes, comments and interactions with my posts which still gives me the joy of the day

Though my comments on others posts often build online healthy conversations, I remain unworthy of converting these connects and conversations as the source of earning opportunities

This writing as my post on virtual social media may or may not invite others attention to read, like, comment and converse

But that wouldn't confine me from writing and sharing further contents as future posts because for sure I am addicted to online social media sites

I really don't know whether i am here on these platforms to earn or learn but one thing is clear that

"There's no Exit"

That carrot 🥕 hanging on that stick is dangling and the possibility is dazzling, so here I am running in circles like the rabbit 🐇 who in the melee forgot the hole from which it came

Hail the Virtual World 🌍
