Festival of lights or is it a festival to feast on?
Feast fills our stomach while the sight of well lit lights, fill our hearts
Hence it's a festival of lights and as well a festival of feast
Gone are the days when we as kids prioritised fireworks over the feast or lights as we were busy lighting the crackers which sight filled our hearts
Gone are the days when the wake up call was well before the dawn of the Diwali day
Gone are the days when there was a large family standing in line to receive their festival gifts from the elders of the family
Gone are the days when the sound of the crackers muted the volume of mouths that were busy gossiping while tasting the sweets
Gone are the days when our share of crackers were hidden from the sight of siblings
Gone are the days when there were large open spaces to burst crackers without hindering the neighbours
& Gone are the days when the total cost of the celebration didn't drain the bank balance
Diwali in these times see people going on vacations to be with nature in calm and serene surroundings
Diwali in these times see a list of dos and don'ts and ban on fireworks which are supposed to pollute the air in a few days more than what other modes could do over the years
Diwali in these times bring home sweets and savouries from various vendors than from the home kitchen
Diwali in these times is more formal than how natural it was, years earlier
Still thankfully the festival of lights is celebrated across the nation with much fanfare and generous expenses which brings joy to individuals and the commercial establishments
This once in year experience is one of a kind that lingers in the memories till the glow of our Diya 🪔 is put off
I joyfully share my Diwali sweet wishes to one and all "Happy Diwali"
