Happy Onam 🌿
Vamana Jayanthi, the ancient term for Onam festival during the pallava period is believed to have originated during the sangam period, as mentioned in ancient scripts
The mythical king 'Mahabali' who according to scripts, was an able and noble ruler
Modern day Kerala is marked as the capital of his kingdom which was vastly spread across the globe
His might scarred the Devas as they assumed Mahabali as an Asura descendent
As his fame flamed the insecurity feelings of the demigods, the divine representatives pleaded for Sri Narayana intervention
Thus descended lord Vishnu as Vamana avatar and the rest is history....
King Mahabali attachment for his native country and his people derived him the power to annually visit his country and be with them for ten days to rejoice
Though in the early sangam periods this festival marked a month of celebration, at later dates, it shrank to ten days
This year, the keralites, as a mark of respect and homage to the victims of wayanad disaster,
Collectively have decided to keep the funfair at low key and hence the scenes of festivity among the malayalis across the globe
Will be simple and joyful 🕊️
King Mahabali will wish and bless his people with grand celebrations of Onam fest from next year 🌿
