Light the Diya and welcome Joy 😊

As kids, remember how we used to look forward to the Festival of Lights πŸ‘‰ Diwali πŸͺ”

Well before a month, the conversations on the type of fireworks, quantity, quality and ways of bursting the crackers will begin with our friends!

Visiting the cracker shops that generally mushroom during this festival time used to be a favourite pastime!

Eyes on the collection of fireworks, the heart would long to buy all the types of fireworks that are stocked and displayed on the temporary shop shelves but the mind will convey that, it can happen only in dreams!

Still, there was no blockage to visualize our celebration with that collection of crackers πŸš€

Garments were another charm of this festival of lights and since virtual shopping was absent in those times, window shopping to choose our attire was trending!

As children, we seldom checked the price tag of the products and were focused on the patterns, designs, fabric and models of the garments!

We prayed that our parents would buy us a couple of these latest designs in our formal and as well as casual wear but mostly ended up being content with just one set!

One week before Diwali, firing the fireworks after school hours each day was the best playtime and of course in limited quantities since the majority of our share of Deepavali crackers was stored to fire on the festival day πŸŽ‰

4 am was a tough time to wake up on the festival day and that too after going to bed around 11 pm on the previous gala night!

But the thought on the crackers used to crack this challenge and we all dutifully adhered to the pattern of taking an oil bath which used to be followed with a round of different sweets served to fill our taste buds!

Then there was this herbal mix that was stuffed in our mouths to offset the possible stomach issues that may arise because of the array of sweets consumed on that day!

Finally, after praying and paying our respects to the elders at home, we were allowed to fire the fireworks with strict warnings on the dos & don't

Man, those hours with the fireworks did work the wonder in our childhood times and sometimes, burnt the skin too!

Fire πŸ”₯ accidents were a common scene in those times and the speeding fire engine πŸš’ made everyone question their style of celebrating this festival of lights πŸͺ”

Deepavali brought relations and friends together through greetings and gifting sweets!

The hang of festival will hang on for a few more days till all the fireworks are lit and the sweets are eaten!

The end of this festival will mark the beginning of expectations for the next year's Festival of Lights πŸ‘‰ Diwali πŸͺ”

*add memories of your childhood Diwali times here to share the joy of Deepavali πŸš€

Wishing you all a joyful "festival of lights" that brings prosperity and happiness to your lives :)
