Makara Sankranti ☀️

One morning, 11000 years earlier;

A human stole a glance at the clear sky from the warmth of the cave!

The burnt firewood at a corner was still spreading the warmth to make the lives of the occupants, tolerable!

Outside, it was all ice and that's how the world has been for a much longer period!

Their group of about 100 humans had found a patch of land sometime earlier and cultivated wheat which was ready for harvesting!

The human signalled to others who woke up to find the wheat plants in the reaping stage, swaying in the wind!

Elated, they all ran down to the field to begin harvesting the crops!

The elder among them reminded the group about their duty to thank the Sun ☀️ for shining bright and nourishing the plants to grow and yield!

They all stood in a circle, held their hands and began to dance to share their joy with the sun ☀️ and that marked the beginning of our annual harvesting festival 👇

Makar Sankranti 🌾

Over the years, this annual festival has evolved and today, the festivity extends for a few days and involves multiple cultural programmes and celebrations!
