Temple architecture isn't just about the towering tower or religious beliefs -
I think it's more to do with keeping an healthy economy and educate people on the general aspects of Life -
I belive to carve a single statue a sculpture takes an average of 4 weeks
If so, to imagine the quantum of sculptures carved on a single
Temple tower and the time it would've taken to carve out -
Each tower in the famous temples are estimated to have few thousands of sculptures
Which obviously mean that it's beyond a single sculpture's capacity even in one's life time
Say 100 sculptures were dedicated with the task of carving out these 1000s of statues in one tower
A sculpture working on a single standalone stone to carve one dedicated statue at ground level
And 100 sculptures together working on 100s of statues on a single huge rock, at times at an elevated level
That means an average of 15 months spent on a single tower by these collective artists
If we look at these temples a little above a prayer hall, it is obvious that they were the projects implemented by the respective -
Kingdoms to keep their economy in good health - these temples employed 1000s of labour, called for huge investments
Kept the citizens on their toes instead of lazing around, addressed their income needs -
Over all paved way for an effective ruling :)
As the saying goes, "there's more to see than what's visible to the naked eyes"
Hence these temple structures have values way above the architecture alone :)
Next time we pass a temple tower, may be we should spend some time looking up at the values 🙏
